Become a Contributor

Whether you already have robust digital collections available online or you are starting from scratch, Northwest Digital Heritage invites any Oregon or Washington-based museum, public library, tribe, or organization with cultural heritage materials to participate in our metadata aggregation effort. Academic institutions that are members of the Orbis Cascade Alliance (OCA) are also more than welcome to participate.

As a NWDH contributor, we’ll work with you to incorporate any necessary metadata enhancements to your collections. When we’re both ready, we’ll start harvesting a quarterly snapshot of your collections’ records, and then send a copy of it along with other NWDH contributors’ metadata to send to the Digital Public Library of America. Your records will then show up in search results on this national platform, but users will be linked back to your organization’s digital repository.

We are successfully harvesting metadata from a number of digital repository platforms, including:

  • PastPerfect (with online add-on)
  • PastPerfect Web Edition
  • CONTENTdm
  • Digital Commons
  • Omeka Classic
  • CollectionBuilder
  • Preservica
  • Drupal
  • Omeka S
  • Access to Memory (AtoM)
  • Islandora
  • Veridian
  • D-Space Direct

If you don't see your organization's software listed here, reach out to us. There is more than likely a way for us to work with you. A complete list of current Northwest Digital Heritage contributing organizations can be found here.
