Athena Public Library
Athena, Oregon, is an agricultural community of approximately 1,200 residents in the traditional homelands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla, in what is now Umatilla County. First settled by non-Indigenous in the 1860s as Centerville (being approximately halfway between Pendleton and Walla Walla, Washington), the town's name was changed to Athena in 1889.
Athena Public Library is proud to announce these new digital collections, which currently focus on street scenes and local schools. Please watch this space in 2022 and 2023, as Athena continues to work with the Northwest Digital Heritage project to digitize more collections.
